UN60 - United Nations 60th Anniversary
The United Nations was founded in San Francisco with the signing of the UN's Charter on June 26, 1945. The sixtieth anniversary of the UN will be celebrated in many public programs throughout the Bay Area between March and October 2005, and particularly in five days of World Environment Day activities--June 1 through 5--and two days of official programs,  June 25 and 26, 2005. See the UN60 Official Program Guide (PDF document, 4.3 MB). See future updates of this publication or contact UN60@una-sf.org for more information. Sponsorship opportunities for UN60 are available! United Nations Association Film Festival
Established eight years ago, UNAFF celebrates the power of international films and videos dealing with UN related issues: human rights, environmental survival, women's issues, protection of refugees, homelessness, racism, disease control, universal education, war and peace. UNAFF offers a unique opportunity to view documentaries that are rarely screened, to become familiar with global problems, and to acquire a better understanding of the means to address these problems. Video submissions by June 1, 2005.

United Nations World Environment Day
UNA-SF members are assisting the San Francisco Department of the Environment and the World Environment Day 2005 office in organizing many public events throughout the Bay Area. June 1 - 5, 2005.

Education
The Education project aims to teach young people in San Francisco about the establishment and work of the United Nations.

Minesweepers

Minesweepers
Minesweepers® is the world's first and only running charity dedicated to raising funds for landmine clearance. This group was started in the fall of 2001 as a project of the United Nations Association-San Francisco Chapter's Young Professional Group. To date we have raised over $40,000 for landmine clearance.

We currently are starting teams for the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco (October 22), the New York City Marathon (November 6), and we’re also looking at a half-marathon in the summer.

We’re starting a few teams this year to help landmine clearance in Juba, Sudan and in Colombia (the most landmine infested country in the hemisphere). We’re looking for runners, team captains, sponsors and donors. Please contact us here for more info: Fernando Corredor..
